So for those of us who have the low oil level warning light, when does your light come on, related to low oil?

Mine typically comes on at around 1 to 1.2 quarts, A fraction less of said amount in Liters.

I would like to compare with other bikes to see if this is normal.

Regards.

Todd,

The light has came on at different levels on every 1300 I have had in the past (which there have been many).
Sometimes they dont come on at all...........its a crap system.

As mentioned before, find a big lake & throw the sensor in the middle & forget it. They are NOT reliable.

The Sight Glass cannot lie............the sensor was a poor after thought & way of getting around oil issues if a bike seized, for Kawasaki Japan.

I have a '79 with the larger sump, also changed the clutch cover to get the bigger sight glass, one thing that "irks" me is to have a sensor and no electrical connection to put on it, but it's easy to look at the level before starting as the bike is always level with the sidecar attached, so I don't miss it. Sorry I couldn't help with any oil level info, cheers
after tuesday even the calendar goes WTF

Yes I realize it was a "crap system" but wanted to poll those who have it, or at least those that are working and to see if there is any trend on when they indicate.

Well i was going to ask a question on the reliability of this devise but it would seam that its a lying bastard, if i have had the bike on the side stand over night the light stays on when i start it (stood upright with me on it ). i check the level in the glass and its spot on the line.
i think a visit to the lake might be in order.

sorry Todd no help with the level issue..

Mine doesn't work either. I gave it a good clean out with petrol the last time the sump was off & it still plays up. Once the engine is up to temperature & I turn the ignition off & then back on the light stays off. Just a quirk I've learnt to live with on my 13 ;)
