So maybe consider the good old fashioned way. Go at it with some various brushes and Lacquer thinner. It will cut through anything, evaporates quickly and compared to regular solvents is practically odor -free. It leaves no film, use less then other solvents because it is so strong and do it outside !

In the uk i cannot find anything called laquer thinner. Can you give me some brand names so i can research whats in it

They mean Cellulose Thinners...........as its called this side of the pond !

First I've used aircraft paint stripper first. It will definitely take off something or a lot. Then long steel brushes, then smaller. Also, abrasive scotchbrite pads. The smaller crevices, that would either need a small harder brush and Dremel, or media blasting. But I have been also successful holding such small brush with my fingers and but by but managed to clean such tight places.

I'm here, I need to re-paint parts of the frame and the engine. I'm looking at it and thinking I should take that engine out really.

Does the engine come out whole, or does it need partial stripping? Is the easiest way to lay it over?

Remove sump, Cam Cover and any other casings you can.

Place and old mattrass or similar on the floor and lay frame and engine on its side and remove the frame from the engine, unless you have 3 or 4 good strong mates who can help you "wriggle" it out upright ?

I would leave the engine in and paint it, then cover it and do the frame as plenty of room all around it.

I did that this winter and it looks ok ??
