This is an easy one for you guys - I wanted to make sure on the part number for the head gasket. The official spare parts list says #11004-1014, when I do a search for it I come up with #11004-1291.

Is this the same part?

Cheers

According to Partszilla that gasket fits all models from 1979 to 1988. They suggest a price of $135.00 U.S. Our member Tyler got a custom gasket made by a company called Cometic for $80.00 U.S. Cometic have been making gaskets for ever. Tyler did a 64mm overbore and had them make up his custom head gasket and Tyler reported no problems.

It may be worth an inquiry www.cometic.com/

Thanks Kawboy. But damn, I read every post in the engine section last night and I somehow missed that one. I did see it (Cometic) mentioned in a much earlier post from 2+ years ago www.kz1300.com/index.php/forum/engines/116-head-gaskit and when I visited the Cometic sight there was no mention of the Z1300. I will drop them an email and ask.

11004-1014 is the original head gasket part number. It has been superseded by new part number 11004-1291.

Cometic is famous for making solid copper head gaskets. I have no idea about the composition of their Z1300/KZ1300 head gaskets.
