Hello all:

I have a gel-cell battery that has expired at only two years. Before I go back to another of the same type, I was wondering if anyone has had experience with Lithium.

I see they are comparable in price to a Gel-Cell and they have a 3 year full replacement warranty, vs most gel-cell's have a 1 or 2 year warranty.

One can shed about 7 lbs going to the newer Lithium battery but some lithium battery products have had a checkered past.

We are in a wet and mild climate and most folks in our area get 4 to 5 years out of their batteries.

what think ye?

Todd.

I use the yellow MotoBatt batteries in all the bikes and the oldest is 8 years and still going strong. I was so happy I even bought one for my mower and after two years service and almost no running for 6-7 months during the cooler months it starts first time without putting the charger on it first as I needed to always do after winter.

The lithium batteries do give a massive amount of power out when you hit the starter but don't have the capacity of either lead/acid or the gel types.

I use a CPAP for sleep aopnea and use the 12v supply when camping. I get 3 nights from a Motobatt 30 AH and it still easily starts my K1100 BMW but a lithium that I checked out would probably not last 2 nights.
They hold the voltage till almost dead, that's why they go and go then just drop.

Hi Todd

I am using the Hawker Odissey as I used to have massive problems with the standard aci batteries in the past. Sa far it works according to my expectations since last year.

Starting isues due to lack of power are a thing of the past, thank god.

regards

Holger

I put an evo2 lithium battery in my gt750 shaft two weeks ago,
and I have ordered another for the kz1300.

in the specs I see only good things, for startings amps aswell as capacity..

for me it's a bit of a gamble to, but I will find out soon, and will let you know...
