I have a problem.
the fuel gauge and the temp gauge are supplied by the same wire from a small regulator on the left side of the head stock.
this device should supply 7 Volts but mine is supplying 11.45 volts
this makes the gauges give false high readings.
does anyone know of a repair or a replacement for this part
ive looked on MCG but cant find one
any ideas

Ian,

It is a very simple component (voltage reducer) & therefore would be very easy for a decent auto electrician or similar to open up & replace the resistor or component inside that has failed, if you cannot find a used one (look to be expensive too).
As long as you let them know what reading it should be sending out, they should be able to help.

Wow good find, thanks Toddh. a bit ambitious with the price, might have to be the last resort
Pete, i was thinking the same way
am de soldering all the components from the board and doing a value test.
its already broken so no loss really

If you come up with the right parts and availability, it might be a good article to save for the forum.

We use to do this kinda think with heater controls in GM cars. Here is a tip. the color bands on all diodes is the value of the part. so get a book from Radio shack or a store like that will be a big help. It will tell you which one you need just in case your meter reads it wrong.
