Wow! This explains why that plug is all melted on my bike! I was wondering what the heck that was about lol. Looks like I'm going to have to do this as well :).

Doing a quick search online for Motobatt batteries I'm coming across some forums with members saying not to buy them for various reliability, discharging, leaking issues. I've been considering Li-ion type batteries for the weight savings. Anyone get any of these?

Mike

I've tried several makes of batteries and none match a Motobatt. I've got them in both my 13's and before that in an XS1100 - highly recommended. I've never had any problems with them at all.

I've had Motobatts in both my rides for over 3 years now, no trouble. Wasn't aware of any issues with them either. This link may be of interest ;) www.intruderalert.com/cafe/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=157926

Nice link!

Everyone's input is always appreciated. I always try to take in as many sources for info as possible so I have the info when I need it :). In particular, there were many more articles praising the battery than ones consisting solely of people ranting about how bad they are. Initially, it seemed like based on the comments I was seeing that the battery quality had declined recently but other recent posts I found have made me rescind that thought and now I'm just thinking that they may have had a problem with a batch of batteries and have since corrected it or these are just isolated incidents :). As always I take everything I find with a grain of salt. Here's the links to the two main posts I found in case anyone was curious lol.

In that 2nd link the guy states that one bike was left for 6 months, the other for 2 & he expected them to start on the button? Any inactivity longer than 2 weeks & I usually put the intelligent charger on, otherwise it's a sure way to kill a battery (which is how I killed my Odysey )
