Well, it's that time of year again: winters arrived in the UK and its cold with permanently wet and salty roads, not been out on a bike for weeks now, so I find myself spending more and more hours in my "Man Cave" - fettling.

I've joined a growing number of my mates in buying another winter project: so I lashed out and bought my self a Christmas pressie in the form of a project RD350 Yam. She's just arrived from the US, with original paint and chrome, and a claimed genuine one owner 5000 miles on the clock . I cant believe how tiny it feels after riding big bikes - just moving her around the garage it honestly feels like a moped !

Just wondered if any other forum members have down-sized and bought a tiddler ?

Anyway, here's a few pics as she came from the shippers (I am well pleased with her un-restored condition :). I will post some "after" pics when I finish my fettling.

Cheers Tim

Sweet !! I had a buddy (actually been my bud for the last 45 years) who had one of these. I was riding a Kawasaki S2 350 triple. We rode the wheels off of those 2 bikes. he and I would race each other and he always got me by half a bike length in the quarter. I never did win. The only thing worth checking is the reed valves. Boyesen's were my favorites.

Thanks for sharing. Brings back a few memories. Awesome. Enjoy!!

Well, that is a nice xmas present, you must have been really nice this year. I was not aware that the RD350 went back that much time. Friend of mine had a modern one and I used to "chase" him with my Z1300, meant that I as following the blue smoke until I could see him at our destination, waiting for me. Never tried it out on the Autobahn though, I am sure I would have won.

Brings back memories to me, too.

Thanks, enjoy

Awesome looking unit! Wishing you a Safe and Merry Xmas.

My first ride was a 1980 RD400G and looking back now I understand how inappropriate it was for a learner. I have vivid memories of opening up the throttle and then finding it rather difficult to back off while trying to hang on at the same time :woohoo: . It went like the clappers!

Looks like its in great shape for its years. Nice find!

I know what you mean about small bikes. They feel like mopeds after riding 700+ lb monsters. Shortly before the season ended I rode buddies my buddies CBR600. Went like stink but felt like a bicycle under me lol.
