LedKZ1300...............your comments are very true about the newer Vmax 1700.

1700cc, 200BHP, fuel injection, loads of black boxes, rammed with high tec gadgets (more to go wrong) !

Yamaha brought this out on 2009 at a mammoth launch price of around £16k in the UK.

They then struggled to sell it and by 2012 had began to drop the price.

You can now get an new one for £12k............still expensive.

There was outrage from owners who had "invested" in the new bike at £16k...........as the used value obviously fell through the floor once the lower new price was announced !

That 900 looks about as interesting to me as chicken nugget, a bit like trying to remake mad max, it might be very good but classic is only decided over time and by people.A modern Z13 would probably be as classic as a new Triumph Boneville...not very!

Anybody remember Hondas effort with a retro CB750. I still laugh when I think about it and now I have even more to chuckle about.

4 years ago, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Z1, Kawasaki put a concept bike on show at the main UK Motorcycle Show, and asked visitors to vote on if it should go into production. Ut was universally well received, in the flesh the bike was stunning, candy paint, loads of alloy and chrome, very hard edge muscular look to it. Bore little resemblence to current pictures starting to surface - which look just like a Zephyr 1100.

Hope when it gets launched its much more like the the earlier bike: I might be in a minority, but I quite like the thought of a modern, reliable, super-charged Z1 :woohoo:

Tonto,

I 100% agree with you on the Super Charged Z1............saw one a few months ago at a bikes meet and it stole the show.

Motorcycle engineering at its best in my opinion and it really looks the part.

I just wish I could bend my old body into the shape I would need to ...........just to ride one !!!

"Invested" yes that is a funny word to describe it. What were they thinking? How often does something with tires ever go up in value? Not very.

Did we "invest" in our z13s? Hell no. The only investment with these things is our personal satisfaction :cheer:

As long as we know that going in its all good.
