Phil hasn't got back to you yet so I'll just throw this up there for you.
The self diagnoses of the DFI is flashing 1 long and 2 short and as per the chart in the ZN manual, you have a problem with the Ambient air temperature sensor, most likely a problem with the connection to the harness I'm guessing. Corrosion on the connections especially on the low wattage connectors will play havoc. Commuters don't belong in the outdoors but here we are. Low volt, low amp circuits are really susceptible to issues when just a little bit of corrosion is involved. I'd start with cleaning the connections.

Hi Mark, is it a ZN1300 Voyager or ZG1300 you have? I'd try as Kawboy suggested, the ECU plug terminals can get corroded & sometime mis-aligned. Also check the plug terminal for the air temp. sensor. Check across the air temp. sensor with a meter, you should be getting between 2k to 3k ohms when the ambient air temperature is 20 degs C (70 degs F). If you're getting outside those readings then the air temp. sensor is actually kaput. If that's the case you could substitute the air temp. sensor with a 3k Ohm resistor.
