There's been some interest of late here about converting a 1300 either from a carb model to fuel injection or just getting rid of the DFI that was used on these bikes in the 80's. I found a thread over at KZRider that might yield some good information:

www.kzrider.com/forum/4-electrical/47357...irt-microsquirt-a-kz

From there I found a link to Do It Yourself Autotune where they sell microsquirt systems designed just for bikes:

I emailed DIYAUTOTUNE a list of questions specific to our bikes. When and if they reply, I'll share that with the clan.

The Microsquirt is only for 4 cylinder machines or less. It could be made to work on the six but would have to be batch fire in two sets of three I think. I am pretty sure that it would not do three sets of two.
I was looking into converting my 1979 over to fuel injection because we cannot get the carbs to come apart properly. If I am going to drill them anyway I am going to convert them to injection.
I was going to use the MS3 PRO because I can get caught in the rain and I will be more concerned for the rest of the bike than the EFI. I already have an MS3 setup that I have been tinkering with on a V12 so I am fairly confident about making it work on the Kawasaki.
I got here by Googling KZ1300 fuel injection looking to get information on the injectors used on the later models. Anyone have any idea what the specs where on those?

You might find more data using ZN1300 and Voyager in your search terms. There's another forum I found this week specifically for voyager owners you could try looking around there too :).

I haven't gone through their forums in detail yet but hey whatever it's worth a shot!

The Thread below is some back and forth I had with Matt at DIYAUTOTUNE. Being this is an email thread, you will want to start at the bottom and work your way up.

Matt at DIY seemed to think the larger system could accommodate Batch injection for three channels. Due to the 1300 having wasted spark. I think only three of the 4 channels would be needed. To jump to Sequential injection, Then a Crank and Cam sensor would need to be added.

I have seen posts on the Crank portion, but not on the Cam wheel. Matt at DIA had some good ideas and they have added a CAM sensor to an OHC bike in the past.

See post below.

"Hello Todd,

The Hall sensor setup can be considered a kind of crank angle sensor; the downside is, the MS2 doesn't support three separate crank sensors (two can be done, but it doesn't have enough I/O for three of them). You could replace the single tooth wheel on one sensor with something like a Ford style 36-1 pattern to control ignition.

As for sequential injection: You could drill the cam cover and use a Hall sensor to read a cam lobe or other protrusion on the cam sensor. We did that for our land speed racing car when the cam was missing a distributor gear (it was meant for a different cylinder head).

Let me know if this sounds doable.
