That cylinder would appear to an amazing "find". Can't help with your questions but am certain someone will.

One of many small project finalized over a few days. The first two photos show roughly how the speedo unit came with the bike.

I used acetone to first wipe all the plastic surfaces gently (except the front clear window) a few times to make everything sealed and all became nice and black. Then I used Turtle Wax rubbing compound paste.
All finished very nicely refreshed.

The bracket and back plate were removed, sanded, sprayed with primer and then PlastiKote black paint. Very happy with the end result. Now it goes back on the shelf, ready for mounting when time comes.

The only thing I regret is that my bike came with this limited speed dial. I just don't get why Kawasaki would produce such nonsense if the bike can go way over this!?
I am planning to replace the face with a full range speedo display. I only guess this would have to be done along with changing the speedo gears as well.

The instruments look great, Stan. It is a good feeling, when you can tick off another item on your ' To Do' list !
You can blame Joan Claybrook, of the USA, for that ludicrous 85 MPH speedo . Maybe a 160 MPH one might come up on ebay.

Great results and looking awesome. Nothing more need be said about the "speed-dial". Obviously I'll get to the next "watering hole" long before you will !

Thanks guys!

They are available, but cost too much to justify. For me for now at least. I might look into it one day and figure out if it's possible just to replace the gear, and buy a new printed dial face.
But thinking of it, how often do I go faster than 140 km/hr? This dial is sufficient for all the speed I need driving within the law. If I go above that, it doesn't really matter what the speed would show! haha I'm not really into trying to break speed records on this bike anyway. Having it at the proper number would be for more of an ego thing and not feeling stupid when someone looks at my bike with a smirk thinking I can't go faster on this huge bike than an average 125 cc.

Scott, you go there buddy! Keep the line, the seat, and have one ready for me when I arrive! :cheer:
