Finally the covers are done. That botched welding job looks bad, but I will make it work. Not posting photos of it

I cleaned all the threads. You wouldn't believe how much blasting medium was hiding there! I think chrome plating shop should clean them up well after blasting and before plating, but that's just what I would do. Got all clean and ready to assemble.

As recommended, I used blue Loctite on threads and these three bolts are torqued to 69 in-lbs.

All done and back on the shelf ready to go later on the motor. When opened up, all the electrical components were shiny just as you see them here - I never had to clean them. Overall, this is a really clean like new motorcycle with a very low mileage (8100 km only), except for the outside rust. Unfortunately it got damaged due to complete lack of imagination and negligence of whoever decided to store it. It's unbelievable how very little of care can go a very long way when putting a motorcycle, or any machinery, off the road int a barn or a backyard. It's just sad.

This is one of those times I wish I had children! hahaha
We generally frown upon child-labor in Canada but hey - If it's a means to an end - I say start recruiting. :woohoo: Just don't do it outside of a elementary school  or you will end up in jail ! And we know you'd have the only cell with polished bars !

Scotch, actually there is another time I wish I had children - when I'm hungry. Since I don't have any, I've been asked before if I like children. I've always said yes, of course!! With lots of garlic and pepper :woohoo:
Over the years I've become so well trained here that when I see cute children I put my hands in the pockets, when I see women I keep my eyes on the ground, I always acknowledge that 'it could be worse and there is nothing you can do about it', and whenever I become so arrogant and dare to open my mouth, I make sure to always start it with.... 'I'm sorry'! hahaha

Here is the bike I mentioned, Stan. I'm sorry the photos are not very good, and don't do the bike justice, but you should be able to see the different shades of paint on the cylinder block and cylinder head.

Those recently restored parts of yours look beautiful. The foot pegs remind me of those on my Yamaha XS Eleven. The difference is that the foot peg on yours pivots on a pin which is retained by a split pin, whereas the pivot pin on mine was riveted over. So I drilled the pins out, and replaced with a chromed socket screw with a dome nut. If all that makes sense!

It looks good enough Jim, gives me an idea.
I know what you mean with the pegs. There will be time for me to do all sorts of improvements later on. My imagination has been taking me to Mars already, haha, but I have to pull myself back and focus on making the bike simply run. I can't wait to hear it!!!
