My father who is retired is a bit of a dab hand at bike restorations, he has restored two suzi re5s and is tidying up this one as well. We think a brake shop should be able to make up a balance tube locally so got fingers crossed.

Those RE5s were a great bike except for the fuel consumption figures. I was working for the importers here when they were released and there was enormous interest until the facts on fuel came out in the magazines then all the customers evaporated.
I used to take the demo bike home for a few weeks and quite liked it.

Yes the fuel consumption is quite awful! Mine gets on average 10-12 km/litre. That was with a larger main jet than standard though. Have recently gone back to the original sizing so it should improve. Damn complicated carb on it is a nightmare to get just right.
