Well, lets just say any "mechanic" who won't touch this with a ten foot pole shouldn't be allowed to work on tricycles for 3 year olds. This is NOT a complicated machine.

I tend to agree. A lot going on, sure, but only because you have two extra cylinders and the assorted "stuff" that goes with it. Still, most shops in my area won't touch it simply because it's so old. Liability issues and such. (Not going any deeper into THAT, though.)

As far as adjusting valves, maybe you'd like to work on a CBX with 24 bucket shims instead. And from experience, they need adjustment every 5000 miles or else !!

Ooof. A big reason I don't own one (apart from the price). If any bike perfectly encapsulated Honda's vision of "Engineering for the Sake of Engineering", it was the CBX. A pretty bike for sure, and I would like to have one at some point, but I've got enough on my plate right now.

Oh, and if you want a REAL challenge, try working on a Porsche 928. I have one of these (1985) and the "Shop Manual" is 8 - 3" binders that takes up 2 ft. of my library shelf. She's in the paint shop and will be out next week and yes, I'll post pics of the third love of my life. (You can guess which ones are the first two)

Yup, cars got me totally lost. Anything with more than two wheels is too complicated for my little brain. :silly:

The old bike mechanic I know said they used to love working on the 2 vavle Kawi's because they were simple. He then went into a rant about how much he hated the V4 Honda's of the late 80's and recalled a day when a customer brought in a Suzuki with roatry engine. The carb they used on the Wankel had 5 independant fuel circuits and an oil injector to lube the rotor's apex seals. He used a alot of colorful language when describing it to me. I take it he was not a fan...

Every factory service manual I've ever read leaves out information or steps they assume you should know. I can do anything if all the steps are there.
