Mightyzod - can you please get some more detailed pics of the underside of your tank? From the only one posted so far, I can see where it appears distorted near the back of the tank (BTW- the area where the rubber pad sits should be horizontal when the tank is sitting properly).

There really is no other bike this tank could come from apart from a 13 (1000MkII tanks have the front mounts much closer together).

Possibly a stupid question, but did the tank fit before you dismantled the bike?

My thanks to all for the responses. As always, I will try to respond to the latest comments in one shot. The tank was not attached when I purchased the bike, so I have no way of knowing if it is the correct tank. Regarding measurements; those provided to me helped a lot. I have measured my tank in the same manner and will post those pictures. I included the dimensions of the mounting pucks on the frame. They are an inch and a half narrower than the distance on the tank. I also included the number on tank in one of the pictures.










I hope these pictures help. Please continue to help with this bizarre problem.

In reference to the third photo down from the top, either my eyes deceive me, or there is a photographic illusion. The bottom of the tank behind the tape marked "190 mm" appears to be bulging downward. There also seems to be a line in the paint on that area that would be made by the backbone of the frame hitting it.

Your second photo from one week ago shows the same downward bulge in the bottom of the tank.

The apparent amount of downward displacement is exactly the distance and in the correct location to hit the frame backbone and hold the rear of the tank up.

Thats my suspicion as well that the tank has been pressurised and "popped" out in a few spots.

For what it's worth I just measured the front mount tabs on my A5 tank and they are 225mm apart.

Is there any way to verify the fit?
