TOPIC:

Hi guys - my oil pressure switch is not working on my A5 (oil light does not come on, but does if I ground the lead off the switch).

Is the switch mechanical? Looking at pics of used ones on eBay it looks like there is a port / hole for the oil to go into the switch. Is it possible it's just gunked up and can be fixed with a clean??

Oh - also - are there other switches from other models that can be used instead of the 1300 ones?

I have used carb cleaner and let it soak for an hour or so and then wash it out with more carb cleaner and all was good

Well, all efforts to revive this one have failed.

So, after a bit of Googling it seems they are pretty generic.....so I took it down to my local auto store and he matched it up to one of these:



Except he only charged me $15.

I had to change the connector but it bolted right up and we're good to go again. Lights up with the key on and turns off when you start it....so I call that a win

Glad to hear you're a winner. Did you go out and buy a lottery ticket?? Not everyone gets that lucky around here.
