I was fitting a rear brake switch today and noticed a blue wire with an exposed end coming from the engine in the same bundle as the 3 yellow to the regulator rectifier. I searched a few wiring diagrams and could only find ones with the 3 yellow wires.
Mine is an a5 z1300. Does anyone know what this wire is for or have a diagram.
There are two other wires floating about that it could plug into but one has a blue with white stripe and then a brown one wich is on the reg plug but goes nowhere.

The blue wire may be to your fuel solenoid valve, that is the only blue wire in that vicinity. Up to the A-5, I too only see the three wires coming off of the Sub-alternator on that side of the crank.

Regarding the brown wire, and blue/ wht wire, it too may be fuel solenoid valve related. Take a look on page 369 of the A-5 supplement. It goes to the Reg/Rec.

Have you or someone disconnected that valve, may explain the disconnected wires???

What country of origin is your bike?

Regards.

I think the wire from the oil pressure switch is a blue wire. Don't think it is normally run through the same sleeve as the alternator wires though.

My 82 being an A-4 (U.S.) model has no extra wire in the sub-Alternator Harness.

This doesn't help your cause at all but someone may have added that wire over the years, as they could have replaced the stator on that side of the bike.

Or it could have been something done during the course of production by Kawasaki for the A-5, Z13.

Found out what it was it's for the oil switch it just shares the stator outer covering and exits before the stator to the switch .
If you look at the parts microfish you can see it in the diagram on the a4 as well.
