The issue as ever is the cost.

Fitting any higher output coils on any KZ or Z1300 makes a massive improvement as the originals with the Ballast are incredibly weak, so anything is better than them.

I had a Z1300A2 a few years ago and did the AW82 conversion. This made starting and general running much, much better.
I then managed to get a new set of Dynas cheap on Ebay and fitted them instead.
Being very honest...........I could not feel any benefit over the AW82's so sold the Dynas on at a profit.
The Dynas are also a bit of a bother to fit onto the bike.

I can tell you that Phil has an excellent guide somewhere (ask him nicely) to fitting the Dyna coils as he did to his own Z1300, as they are not anything like a direct fit like the AW82's are.

Not so much a guide Pete, more like pics showing the Dynas located on the cam cover on my 13:







It has to be said that it does make it more of a faff everytime I want to remove the cam cover though of course.

And I concur that the Dynas will fit in the original position, but it is VERY tight.

By the way Pete, when are you going to put the guide on here about fitting the Mosfet regulator / rectifier?

Hi,

I have used these coils in my own bikes and on Finnish friends as well. They are ca. 3 ohms primary resistance so you can remove the resistors from the ignition system. They fit into original locations and cost next to nothing. If your carbs are set right and your engine is OK, you do not need the expensive "supercoils". Mine have worked so far for 20.000 miles on my -82 without any problems. The seller is located in UK.

The only issue with those particular coils is that the HT Leads are machined into the body, whilst the AW82 have detachable leads which are a much better design and obviously enable them to be replaced when required.
