I have replaced my IC igniter with 3 GM HEI 4 pin ignition module using the same pickups with great results so far.
I had a problem in high Rpm when the engine looses power and now it's gone.
This is from Lou Dudzik web site, he did this mode for a KZ 550 which using the same pickup coils as the 1300.

Good solution and the module price is $35-60 depends on the brand

Nice job there Mister!! Looks like a perfect work around for some of the aftermarket coils the guys want to use. Issues in the past have been with trying to use the 2-2.2 ohm coils with the old ignitor and frying the transistors in the ignitor. I'm guessing the GM HEI ignitor has transistors that can carry higher amperages . I'm keeping this post handy for my machine. I've got a set of AW82 coils from a CBX to go on and they Ohm out at 2.2 so I'm right on the edge with these. I was going to put in .5 ohm resistors, but maybe I'll go this route. Thanks for the info!!

Cool! I've been trying to decide whether to go with the GM pack or with a set of Honda coils. I have both sitting around my shop.
Cut to approximate, smash to fit!

Hi agmonmarine,

Whichyear is your 1300? Mine is an 81 which uses a "Hall Effect" pick up. I'm told that this sort of pickup is limited to only the 81's.
Thanks

Hi there, my bike is a 1979 KZ1300 with the ignition pickup coils located under the intake manifold.
I use the Harley Davidson twin fire ignition coils that came with bike and it seems to work very well.

Hi

Help please purchased bike in boxes 12 months ago getting it back together don't like the look of much of the electrical equipment

Can I fit HEI. Ignition to A3 with pick ups on side of engine and the larger igniter ???!

Also the voltage dropper / stabiliser for the instruments are there any mods or alternative parts I don't fancy buying another used one

Thanks
