How many riders just don't practice braking enough to know to use both brakes?

Notice how the bike actually lands on his head and he still walks away.

Isn't landing on yer head a couple of times and having the front wheel wash out from under you a few times part of the early learning curve of safe riding? I sure can't do all those front brake stoppies that the stunt riders do, but I have learned to modulate the front/rear brake balance for much better stopping without locking up the front or rear.
now that I am back on three wheels (sidecar), though, I might be getting a little less concerned about washout or lockup. On sidecar forums there are discussions ad-nauseum about sidecar brakes or not, and how and when to use them. So, I might be losing my touch on balancing my bike's brakes, but adding that sidecar brake into the mix helps. I don't worry about my bike falling down now! Lazy, huh?

I doubt he could ride out of sight on a moonless night, thickhead!

I've watched this maybe 20 times now and just don't see why he didn't try going down the left side of the car in front of him. I noticed that he also rolled/slid under the rear of that car, so he had to be going much faster. Just simple inexperience!
That's one helmet that he owes his life, or at least his sanity to!
