Its all quite misleading that last paragraph you copied.

It states " This pump does not produce any pressure only flow" !!!!

That basically means it aint a pump !!!...........just a valve that opens or closes with inlet manifold pressure.

The 1300 had a Solenoid Valve fitted from the factory under the carbs on the front of the air box. This too ONLY allowed flow & was not a pump. It was electrically opened when the ignition was on & closed when off, so did the same job in preventing the fuel tank emptying into the engine if you left your petcocok ON by mistake.
Problem was these electrical solenoid valves were not reliable & often failed, stopping the flow of fuel altogether, so most owners disposed of them.

Just make sure your petcock fully stops fuel flowing when off & you will be ok !
