Manual is wrong. Think they managed to confuse full turns and half turns.

They need to be about 3.5 turns out as a starting point

Dyna,Nology or I was looking at one time some house brand coils for Harley s on Ebay. I currently run Dyna with Moroso Magtune wires that were designed to fit a Chevy inline 6.But before you start throwing parts at problems physically look at them and verify that they are indeed cracked. My original coils were cracked and previous owner had the wires held together with electrical tape

Hi Met1212,

I've long believed that the alcohol that's added to current day fuels attacks the foam plastic floats that the 13 uses. The floats gain weight and allow the fuel level to rise in the bowls till the cylinders start running rich. I can't tell you how many time I've found and heard of others fighting sooty/wet plugs. Particularly, on cylinders 1 & 2 (lower while on the side stand). After way too many attempts to clean or adjust my carbs I finally followed the instructions in the service manual and set the floats by the wet method. I ended up radically bending the tangs to get the fuel level to between 5.5mm and 8.5mm below the bowl gasket. With this adjustment my bike finally started running clean. Last time I checked the fuel mileage I got a little over 40 MPG.
I believe that Scotch has similar stories to tell. His solution was to build a set of custom brass floats, which he is currently offering for sale see his posting here:

There are a set of Scotch's floats in the mail coming my way right now which I intend to install this winter. I'll post up the effort when I do.
If your floats have gained weight over the years no amount of setting the float level dry will give any meaningful results.
The wet method is quite simple. Just be sure to use the smallest diameter tubing you can find as any air in the measurement tube will result in inaccurate readings.

Best of luck to you.
